Why is AOC considered so important?

No offense to her...but she is a congressperson -- one out of 400 some. I've never understood why she commands so much attention.

Because she is brilliant and very, very savvy. I work with smart 20-somethings who all love her, as well they should.

She grabbed attention from the beginning. She's charismatic and a "star." Even my 87-year-old aunt in Belgium, who never even watches TV and doesn't follow US politics at all, knows who she is, even recognizing the initials.

She knows she’s pretty, compared to the stuffy looking Fraus in Congress. She plays it up by wearing the makeup.

She's pretty, but she's beginning to look a little long in the tooth. She's 31 y.o. now.

She's also famous for being a millennial congressperson.

Because she built a nationwide political reputation and brand from nothing and beat a powerful Congressman in a come-from-behind race. She wasn’t rich, well-connected, the kind of whitebread suburban man with 2.5 kids who goes into politics, or related to other famous people. She is a rare self-made success story.

And the fact that she was able to do that ^ suggests she has potential to pull off a bigger upset at a higher level. I’m honestly hoping she moderates her positions, because she has the kind of charisma that Democratic candidates typically need to win.

AOC is the only one in Congress with balls - and brains.

I love the way she grilled Mark Zuckerberg. He squirmed like a lab specimen pinned to the board.

AOC represents what this country should be about, and yet even most Democrats are against her because most Democrats are centrist cowards. And people reject them because most people are fucking robots who are afraid of change.

She has charisma which is why she has been recruited and groomed by the democratic socialists party.

With her Q rating, AOC is the 7th most popular Democrat behind Warren, Harris, Biden, Sanders, Carter and Obama.

The voting block that will keep AOC in office is aging as she is. She's not going anywhere. If she stays in politics, she will be even more powerful going forward because she "gets it."

And, her GOP nemesis Marjorie Tyler Green(MTG) has basically copied her. She has become her mirror image. She only gets attention because she is "a lightening rod for angry, uninformed left-wing jerk offs." This isn't comparing them as people or judging their policy proposals. Each are just one congressperson out of many and are on the fringes of their caucus. But, each of them manages to command much more attention from the press than their colleagues, even though neither have accomplished anything. Politicians like WOC, MTG, Omar, Boebert etc say outrageous things because it helps with their fund raising. You'd be amazed at how much money politicians rake in based solely on the stupid shit they say and do.

We really need a new system of funding politics. If it's not money from special interest, it grassroots money based on outrage... neither is healthy for the long-term prospects of this country.

Most of us are too old and jaded to no longer get the sincere passion of the young. How did we forget our own? They believe in change and are not afraid of it. They have not been beaten down by life yet.

I was hopeful about AOC, but she's gotten way to predictable. Getting way too snowflakey over the "insurrection" was one thing. Then she had that stupid dress at the Met Gala. Then she cried on the floor of the house for a vote. It's all disappointing, because she was supposed to represent the interests of working class Americans, especially from her neighborhood with a high population of immigrants and POC.
