WHET Brooke Shields??

I just watched the two part documentary about her.

20 years ago, she did some fantastic work on Bway and her TV show and then nothing.

She should have kept at theatre at least. The documentary doesn’t address why she seems to have just stopped acting or modeling

Her children just left for college. It could be that she wanted to be home to parent them, especially considering her own childhood.

Her movies are nearly all crap. She’s a crappy serious actor. She found her niche in zany roles—Wonderful Town, Friends, her TV show.

I think she just too old for zany now

My sense is the documentary is an attempt to kickstart.the career, I see her at the local coffee shop - seems busy and in demand with activities and ann occasional theater function. But maybe just using this to get the last of the money which she may fear could be drying up. I’m sure she saved wisely.. doesn’t seem extravagant - and is the picture of kindness, cheerfulness and propriety getting coffee. Will be interesting too. See what she does next.

I would like to understand why they are revealing and marketing all this now. Assume there is a larger strategy.

She says that her going to college for 4 years completely stalled her career. Hollywood basically forgot about her

Maybe it’s not such a good idea - once you already have a career?

To be honest I think when she got out of college she had lost the beauty of her youth and that's what killed her career. She was never known for her personality or great acting so she didn't have that to fall back on.

She's hard to look at. I don't like saying it about her since I've heard how kind she is... but she is so mannish it's hard to take.

She replaced Bebe Neuwirth in The Adams Family musical on Broadway not that long ago.

The vast majority of actresses age out of being employable in Hollywood at her point in life.

She was at her most exceptionally stunning in her teens. She was off-the-scale beautiful.

But by her 20s she was just unexceptionally attractive. The kind of beauty that is everywhere in the industry.

Since great beauty was her major selling point at her career peak, rather than exceptional acting, she needed a new angle.

Since she has real talent, she found a path forward with comedy. Now she's older that means her opportunities for that kind of work are minimal.

Clearly none of you watched this show. She was hilarious over several years in this recurring role.

She's one of very few sane child actors which itself is an accomplishment.

Especially when you consider that her mom was a severe alcoholic and there was no father.

Her talent level should have her playing a nurse or lawyer on one of those huge ensemble network shows but she’s too famous for that. Nobody wants to see her star in anything other than maybe a print advertisement.

She’s heterosexual, white, rich, thin, and presumably healthy. I’m not crying for Brooke Shields.

She should have gone the Vanessa Williams route—start in supporting roles to regain acceptance

Brooke never captured the interest of the gays. We would have stuck with her through it all, even as she ages.

Maybe the straights will throw her a bone now that she’s screaming “victim!” on all the chat shows. This gay couldn’t care less about her.

R16, so right. She needs to become a vocal supporter for some maligned group.
