Surprised no one's commented on this Burton face off yet. It's been years since I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I recall adoring it when I saw it. Saw it in an art class in high school; in that same class, we watched Citizen Kane, The Curse of the Black Pearl, and Finding Nemo. And, when it doesn't disappoint alongside those movies, its quality is clear. Loved Corpse Bride, too, but it did fall just short of the perfection of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Corpse Bride missed the mark, I think. It was a mediocre Disney movie done a little more grim than usual. How's that so special? It's all about Nightmare Before Christmas - possibly because it was really directed by Henry Selick. If it weren't for the promise of some Johnny Depp, Corpse Bride would have been thrashed by the critics and auds.

Why has no one mentioned the fact that Oogie-Boogie is only in nightmare so that Jack isn't seen as the badguy of the story?

I enjoyed Corpse Bride; I'm a sucker for well made stop motion films. But Nightmare Before Christmas is not only the best stop motion film ever, it's probably the best Disney film ever. Truly memorable songs (thanks to Danny Elfman), characters I actually cared about, and a devious sense of humor all add up to a wonderful experience that far surpasses even the classic Walt Disney-era stuff. NIGHTMARE FTW.

Never been too fond of Nightmare before Christmas. I adore Corpse Bride, however. It needs some love in this discussion.

I'm one of the few people that just didn't really like Nightmare Before Christmas. The Corpse Bride, on the other hand, is tons of fun, and those songs are so good.

Nightmare is perfect. The characters, the songs, the story, the animation, all unforgettable. Corpse Bride is beautiful, but sorely lacking in comparison. What few songs there are are like afterthoughts, the story isn't nearly so creative and ambitious, and it's much harder to connect with the characters.

I haven't seen Corpse Bride but i've seen The Nightmare before Christmas and its definately my favourite film of all time but don't get me wrong, Corpse Bride is probabely awesome but I still don't think any film could beat Nightmare.

I love TNBC so much but for me it doesnt compare to Corpse Bride, i think its songs are best and the story is more beautiful, i think is a very underrated movie

I watched both in the last week. I saw Corpse Bride as a kid and it terrified me. Now that I'm a little older (and maybe a little wiser), I realise it isn't scary at all and it's actually quite good. However, it didn't have the same charm of Nightmare Before Christmas!

The tragedy of Tim Burton for me is that, although I really like his style personally, I seem to prefer movies that he's only indriectly involved with as opposed to ones that he directed himself... In this case: although I enjoyed Corpse Bride quite a bit, Nightmare Before Christmas is an all-time classic.
