the most transparently Pander-verse Marvel movie yet?

Oh this was not the trailer to release after the bombing of “The Marvels.”

Sony should have made a live action version of Into the Spiderverse which has been extremely successful.

That includes female versions of Spider Man.

Madame Web is an old blind bitch.

I think it’s hilarious they’re trying so hard to market superhero movies to women and failing resolutely. The ladies just don’t give a shit about superhero movies (and neither do I). Unless it’s ogle Chris Hemsworth or Jason Momoa (which would be my only reason for watching too).

The old blind bitch Cassandra Webb is dead, R2, after transferring her blindness and psychic powers to Julia Carpenter (formerly Arachne and the second Spiderwoman), who is the one in this movie, I assume.

No, Dakota Johnson is playing Cassandra. They're just styling her to look like Julia's version.

Julia is also in the movie, played by Sydney Sweeney.

OP can you provide any specific evidence about this movie "pandering" or woke? Because otherwise you're full of shit. The whole trailer is a pretty standard, serious narrative. I don't see where they were trying to "pander". Unless, like r6 said, you think a storyline about women is "woke".

The fact that the main character is a woman who is involved in protecting three other women (in this case, Julia Carpenter, the second Spider-Woman and Madame Web, Mattie Franklin, the third Spider-Woman, and Anya Corazon, Spider-Girl) is enough for the usual suspects to bleat about it.

My only issue is that I think it's a weak idea for a movie. I understand why Sony is doing this, because apart from Ghostbusters, Spider-Man is really all they have now that James Bond is owned by Amazon, but after the great wet fart of Morbius, seeming to double down on both this and the Kraven the Hunter movie with Aaron Taylor-Johnson just seems....sad.

Sony really lucked out in buying the rights to Spider-Man and other characters way back in the late '90s when Marvel was bankrupt and struggling to survive. Unfortunately, the studio has no clue what to do with the characters unless Marvel itself steps in. Making entire films out of characters Spider-Man crossed paths with once or twice feels like grasping at straws.

"Madame Web" looks ... fine. But if "The Marvels," which features a marquee character in Captain Marvel, can't find an audience, what makes Sony think a film featuring some really obscure characters will?

Sony has no real future in movies, they will be merged or spun off soon.

I'm not a big fan of movies where there's a Groundhog's Day element of rewind and starting over, so that's a strike against it for me. It also just doesn't look very good. Waiting patiently for Beyond the Spider-Verse, tbqh.

It looks better than I was expecting, although I wasn't expecting much. so that's not really a huge compliment.

I'll probably end up seeing it (unlike Morbius) once it hits streaming.

If I want to see the "beauty" and "talent" of Dakota Johnson, I'll go down to the local Albertson's and check-out at her register.

I just saw the preview for this in theaters, and everyone in the audience laughed when the title appeared on the screen at the end of the trailer.

Who do the Disney producers think would be the audience for this? Do they really think little girls across the country will see this and then want to dress up as Madame Web for Halloween? I'm just gobsmacked these Pander-verse movies continue to get made since they keep repeatedly bombing.
