Ten years ago, Short hosted SNL right after the Sandy Hook massacre. It was surreal.

They should do a sketch where Steve and Martin play an old married gay couple.

I'm remembering Steve Martin from when he was on with the original cast.

It's rough seeing him as an old man with lower energy and mobility.

But what can you do?

Martin Short is only 5 years younger yet he seems 20 years younger.

Loved the monologue, and also enjoyed the FoB and writers sketch. The rest sucked - which just goes to show you how bad the writing is now.

I have not been watching consistently the past few years - but thought it was one of the better episodes I had seen for a while. I think part of it was due to the hosts seeming like they were having fun. I might have laughed a little too hard during the Christmas Carol sketch when Tiny Tim fell into the sewer. I might have to finally watch the Murder in the Building series.

I did not catch her second song, and not sure if I liked the first song, but Belinda still has a pretty solid voice. Also, it seemed like she was trying to do something different and not just trying to replicate her 1980's Go Go's, early solo career style.

It was refreshing to see Sarah Sherman in a skit where she wasn't yelling her freaking head off for a change.

Cecily Strong face looks a little different. I hardly recognized her.

I was (lamely) joking, but I do kind of think Brandi looked a bit like Belinda at certain parts of her life.

Brandi has such an incredible voice. Though I did feel bad it totally cracked.

R60 Probably because Martin Short isn't a trained Broadway singer/dancer. He's got the energy and he tries his best, but he's not a stage actor and he knows it.

Also, sketch comedians like him do their best work when they have the freedom to do what comes next. They keep it loose, and chafe under a settled script and eight shows a week of the same shit.

I’m always surprised whenever I go to look at Short’s filmography and - aside from Father of the Bride and (I guess) Three Amigos - is one craptastik flop after another. I adore him and yet it’s not like I can ever go say - I’m in the mood to really laugh let’s watch that Martin Short movie.

Wasn't her character's name in that skit Charlotte or something like that? If they meant it was supposed to be the character's father, wouldn't they have said "Charlotte's Real Dad" instead of "Sara Sherman's Real Dad"? Just my attempt at logic.

By having white hair originally, I feel Steve aged more gracefully then others.

I have not seen the move, but I am guessing that Charles Grodin and was the perfect partner for Short's annoying child and his reactions created a lot of the laughter and kept the movie from being unbearable.

Steve Martin is still a handsome guy.

Marty Short is a bit too high-energy to have his own talk show, but he's a great guest on other people's.

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned Jiminy Glick, his obese and effeminate Hollywood journalist who bungles basic facts and shovels down piles of donuts and jelly beans. He's basically Data Lounge brought to human form.

Those two are such a contrast with each other. Steve Martin has always been sexy. He looked so good in 3Amigos. It’s cool to see Martin Short healthy and energetic when he’s not a spring chicken . He’s very stream of consciousness.

R93 Steve Martin is a singular talent, but he's also just a bit of an asshole. Even the people who love him also hate him a little bit. He's pretentious about art, music, and the nature of comedy, and not as artful in making his dry insults comedic rather than just insulting.

I don't necessarily dislike Brandi Carlisle, but I don't get why she is still a thing? She seems so overrated.
