Charles Bronson once mistook me for Sebastian Cabot and threw me off a boat in Avalon.
In his defense, it was near dusk and we were both very drunk!

His French in Family Affair always gave me the creeps for some reason.
| by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 11, 2022 2:12 PM |
He never seemed particularly HETEROSEXUAL to me.

Mr French could make an old shoe taste good.

I have fond memories of him in Family Affair. His Mr. French fit in perfectly with all the cast and proceedings.

Did Mr. French have magic powers? I can’t remember.
| by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 11, 2022 2:37 PM |
^^, No, or he would have made the insufferable children disappear.

Did he supply any drugs to Alyssa Jones?
| by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 11, 2022 2:42 PM |
When I was young, I naturally concluded Mr. French was Uncle Bill’s husband. There were so many single men with male valets on TV in the 1960s.

Today he would be called Mr. Freedom.

Neither here nor there, but is there a single apartment in NYC that looks remotely like the one in Family Affair?

I don’t know, but this is the layout:

Is Sebastian Croft his real name, or something?
| by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 11, 2022 4:25 PM |
He made delicious cocoa out of a Hershey bar.

He used to host the first half of a 1972 horror anthology series, 'Ghost Story', which I very much enjoyed.
Here's one of the better episodes:

Cissy/Sissy was a boy before she transitioned...this show was a hotbed of sexuality!

^^ anything to make the show less saccharinely sweet!

In a very special episode of Family Affair: Using Mrs. Beasley to demonstrate, Buffy shows Uncle Bill where Mr. French touched her.

He had a holiday cottage near where I live, and kept his boat at the little marina where my family had our boat. Until at least the late ‘70s, there was a painted, wooden “Sebastian Cabot” nameplate on the dock.

Wow, he died young... just 59 and color me surprised, he was married for years and fathered 3 children.
Obnoxious of me to type, but he really fit the old question, "is he gay or just British?" I guess he was just British, but I always thought he was gay.

I know he lived and died in Greater Victoria (British Columbia) in his older years. But I’d also heard mention growing up, that he lived with an adult male ‘companion’. The area was still fairly unpopulated back then. There are still older locals that can still point out where his residence was exactly. Allegedly, it was a small cozy home, not a mansion by any means.

I've only ever known Sebastian Cabot for three things: Family Affair, Winnie the Pooh, and Mike Stokey's Pantomime Quiz (aka Stump the Stars). Here's an episode with him and DL glamor girls Ruta Lee and Beverly Garland, among others.

He didn't seem gay, at least not in things other than Family Affair. He played a Friar Tuck type in Ivanhoe (1952 version). He played Santa in a remake of Miracle On 34th Street - but didn't have the warmth of Edmund Gwenn.

Didn’t he play Henry VIII in something? Or maybe I’m typecasting the fat fuck.
