Charles Bronson once mistook me for Sebastian Cabot and threw me off a boat in Avalon.

In his defense, it was near dusk and we were both very drunk!

His French in Family Affair always gave me the creeps for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 2July 11, 2022 2:12 PM

He never seemed particularly HETEROSEXUAL to me.

by Anonymousreply 3July 11, 2022 2:13 PM

Mr French could make an old shoe taste good.

by Anonymousreply 4July 11, 2022 2:17 PM

The fat butler who DIDN'T sit on his own balls

by Anonymousreply 5July 11, 2022 2:23 PM

I have fond memories of him in Family Affair. His Mr. French fit in perfectly with all the cast and proceedings.

Did Mr. French have magic powers? I can’t remember.

by Anonymousreply 8July 11, 2022 2:37 PM

^^, No, or he would have made the insufferable children disappear.

by Anonymousreply 9July 11, 2022 2:38 PM

Did he supply any drugs to Alyssa Jones?

by Anonymousreply 10July 11, 2022 2:42 PM

When I was young, I naturally concluded Mr. French was Uncle Bill’s husband. There were so many single men with male valets on TV in the 1960s.

by Anonymousreply 11July 11, 2022 3:13 PM

Today he would be called Mr. Freedom.

by Anonymousreply 12July 11, 2022 3:18 PM

Neither here nor there, but is there a single apartment in NYC that looks remotely like the one in Family Affair?

by Anonymousreply 13July 11, 2022 3:20 PM

I don’t know, but this is the layout:

Does anyone here find Mr. French/Sebastian Cabot attractive?

by Anonymousreply 18July 11, 2022 3:52 PM

R10 her name was Anissa….ANISSA!!!

by Anonymousreply 19July 11, 2022 4:05 PM

Is Sebastian Croft his real name, or something?

by Anonymousreply 20July 11, 2022 4:25 PM

He made delicious cocoa out of a Hershey bar.

by Anonymousreply 21July 11, 2022 9:40 PM

He used to host the first half of a 1972 horror anthology series, 'Ghost Story', which I very much enjoyed.

Here's one of the better episodes:

Perfect title for biography/memoir by Cissy.

by Anonymousreply 24July 11, 2022 9:58 PM

Sexy bear. Did he ever appear nude in anything?

Mr. Fwench sometimes got into Uncle Beel's bed wifout any clothes on...

by Anonymousreply 26July 11, 2022 10:54 PM

Cissy/Sissy was a boy before she transitioned...this show was a hotbed of sexuality!

by Anonymousreply 27July 11, 2022 10:56 PM

^^ anything to make the show less saccharinely sweet!

by Anonymousreply 28July 11, 2022 11:54 PM

In a very special episode of Family Affair: Using Mrs. Beasley to demonstrate, Buffy shows Uncle Bill where Mr. French touched her.

A Don Fedderson Production!

He worked as a valet in the 1930s.

by Anonymousreply 32July 12, 2022 2:32 AM

He did appear shirt-free for a massage in a “Beverly Hillbillies” episode.

by Anonymousreply 33July 12, 2022 2:40 AM

Gregg Fedderson was pretty cute on Family Affair.

by Anonymousreply 34July 12, 2022 3:06 AM

He was also in 1960's "The Time Machine"...one of absolute favorite movies.

He narrated several Winnie the Pooh movies.

He had a holiday cottage near where I live, and kept his boat at the little marina where my family had our boat. Until at least the late ‘70s, there was a painted, wooden “Sebastian Cabot” nameplate on the dock.

by Anonymousreply 37July 12, 2022 6:17 AM

Wow, he died young... just 59 and color me surprised, he was married for years and fathered 3 children.

Obnoxious of me to type, but he really fit the old question, "is he gay or just British?" I guess he was just British, but I always thought he was gay.

by Anonymousreply 38July 12, 2022 9:53 AM

I know he lived and died in Greater Victoria (British Columbia) in his older years. But I’d also heard mention growing up, that he lived with an adult male ‘companion’. The area was still fairly unpopulated back then. There are still older locals that can still point out where his residence was exactly. Allegedly, it was a small cozy home, not a mansion by any means.

I've only ever known Sebastian Cabot for three things: Family Affair, Winnie the Pooh, and Mike Stokey's Pantomime Quiz (aka Stump the Stars). Here's an episode with him and DL glamor girls Ruta Lee and Beverly Garland, among others.

He didn't seem gay, at least not in things other than Family Affair. He played a Friar Tuck type in Ivanhoe (1952 version). He played Santa in a remake of Miracle On 34th Street - but didn't have the warmth of Edmund Gwenn.

by Anonymousreply 41July 12, 2022 5:46 PM

Didn’t he play Henry VIII in something? Or maybe I’m typecasting the fat fuck.
