Born on October 22, 1947, to Robert Warren Wilkinson and Rosa Carthen Wilkinson, Mike’s life was one marked by service and a deep connection to the outdoors. Proudly serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Mike dedicated himself to his country with honor and bravery. Mike’s post-military career spanned over 25 years at BellSouth, where he contributed his skills and dedication to his work. However, it was his passion for hunting and fishing that truly illuminated his life.

From early childhood, Mike found joy in the great outdoors, creating lasting memories with his father, brother, nephew, and numerous family members and friends. The Miller Road Church Hunting Camp, friends’ lakes, and his own riverside backyard became the backdrop for countless adventures and cherished moments.

Mike’s face would light up as he recounted these tales, sharing his love for the outdoors with those around him. This passion was not only a personal joy but also a legacy passed down to his children and grandchildren, who learned to appreciate the beauty of nature through shared experiences on the hunting land.

As Columbus gathers to celebrate the life of Robert Michael “Mike” Wilkinson, the community reflects on the enduring impact of a man who served his country, worked diligently, and found profound joy in the simplicity and beauty of the natural world. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
