R87 Kate already is a princess. I cannot fucking believe we have to go through this again.

There are two kinds of ducal titles: royal and ordinary. An ordinary is addressed as Your Grace.

A royal ducal title Carrie's the RANK AND STYLE HRH, His Royal Highness.

Kate and Meghan married Princes of the Blood. They are therefore, by courtesy, also HRHs. The custom of granting royal ducal titles to blood Princes is an add-on, a gift of the Sovereign.

Without the additional ducal title, Kate would be HRH Princess William. Meghan would be Princess Henry. Only people BORN HRHs can use the style and title followed by their first name: Princess Anne, Princess Beateice, Princess Eugenie.

Kate occupation is listed as Princess of the United Kingdom.

When William becomes not just Prince William but Prince of Wales, he and Kate will begin using Prince and Princess if Wales instead of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The HRH rank of Princess is already carried by Kate. Only the title's name will change; she already Carrie's the rank and style of Princess/HRH.

The media will call her Princess Kate, but it's inaccurate. It is accurately HRH Catherine The Princess of Wales.

The Sovereign grants the Wales title to the male heir. That's the only other Princess title coming Kate's way, and the only way it does is if Charles dies before the Queen does and she gives William the Wales title, or Charles when he becomes King creates William Prince of Wales.

The Wales title carries a trail of subsidiary ones, including Duke of Cornwall. It is this ducal title that brings with it the land and revenues of the Duchy of Cornwall.

None of the other current royal ducal titles are attached to land and revenues, except the Sovereign's, the Duchy of Lamcaster.

Harry's, Andrew's, Philip's carry only the honorary title.

Frankly, I'd rather be the ordinary Duke of Northumberland with his ancient castle and land, than Harry's empty and not too distinguished royal ducal title of Sussex.
