That refers to a second jumper referenced in the article. The man who fell 750 feet, and was severed in half on the way down, was found dead. The police did not need to defer to medical professionals to pronounce him dead.

The marque is a metal grid with square glass inserts (like skylights). I saw the aftermath and two of the square inserts were shattered, so I suspect the top half fell through one square and the bottom half through the adjacent shattered square.

However, I also saw a medic or police officer on top of the marquee dragging something and maybe doing something with a body bag, so possibly both halves didn’t make it all the way through. I just happened to be passing by and didn’t want to stand around and gawk to find out. One article said an arm ended up across the street.

They were power washing the sidewalk in front of the hotel entrance this morning.

Every time I read a story about a fatal jumper I wonder what they were thinking as they fell. We get so few first hand after action reports.
