Anyone else love this movie from 1985? It was one of my absolute faves in the 80s. This movie was so well-written and well-cast! John Cusack of course, is fucking adorable and hilarious. I was 12. Must have rented it from Blockbusters a dozen times.
It's essentially a perfect 10 vintage romcom.

Tim Robbins and Lisa Jane Persky are hilarious as the show-tune singing couple. Cusack was only 18 when it was shot, but he gives a great comic performance. And is super cute to boot.

I'm the same age as Cusack and from the time of this film my mother always told me she thought that I looked like him. Now she says how much better I've aged than him.

R4 If you looked like Cusack in "The Sure Thing" you were sure cute.

I love - and taken to heart - the message of this underappreciated gem. Settle for nothing but the real thing. The sure thing be damned.

Who is the girl in the movie? Looks familiar.

Daphne Zuniga. And Nicollette Sheridan is the sure thing.

Great, underrated film, even better than Say Anything.

Why did Rob Reiner's sense of humour evaporate after this and "Spinal Tap"?
