R14, the man’s lawyer is probably being translated from the Italian, where the “infantilizing” use of “ragazzo” (literally “young boy of indeterminate age”) is common in referring to any male under the age of 40 or so. In this case, the translator should have used “man” or “young man”. People are so lazy when they translate, or when they use automatic translators.
