As a SAG/AFTRA member, Drew’s work on the talk show is covered by the Netcode contract. Her show is not a struck show as far as SAG/AFTRA is concerned.

However, it *is* a struck show as far as the WGA is concerned. Drew, who is neither a WGA member nor ever intends to be, probably wanted to keep her crew and many other non-WGA staff employed by forgoing what is, let’s face it, probably a very light set of duties by writers on the show.

Then she should have had her production company keep them on payroll.

OP, you're being fucking ridiculous. Drew's show's three staff writers are WGA members AND ALSO PICKETING. She also did a ton of ad libbing when the show first started, considering it was in the middle of Covid and she was quite literally shooting it from inside her own apartment. A talk show definitely doesn't *need* a script, even if some use them.

If she's not using WGA writers, her show ain't struck. (Btw R17 the talk show hosts who was still paying their production staffs are ALL among the highest-paid hosts on TV: each easily makes eight figures per year. Drew's show is still new, and unfortunately doesn't have anything remotely close to the amount of cash generated by the morning & evening talk shows. She's obviously not poor, but also not fuck-you rich like Oprah. (Or even approaching fuck-you rich like Jimmy Fallon – assuming he isn't canned for alcoholism – or Jimmy Kimmel.)
