Disclosure (1994)

I am always surprised more gay men don;t know this movie--of all the many Michael Douglas films about threatened American masculinity (including Fatal Attraction, Falling Down, and Don't Say a Word), this is the campiest. Demi Moore, as the misogynistic fantasy of a glamorous ball-crunching boss, wears the most hilarious inappropriate vixenish outfits ever to the office, and is given the stupidest lines ever.

When Michael Douglas runs out of the room pulling his pants on after he's failed to have sex with her and she screams after him, "You get back in here and finish what you started or you're fucking dead! You are FUCKING DEAD!", I realized if I had ever had any doubts before then, I was then forever confirmed in my homosexuality.

I just rewatched this after 30 something years and it was so campy... Basic Instinct held up much better

One of the funniest episodes of Big Mouth is when the seventh graders put on a middle-school production of "Disclosure: The Musical."

on another note, i always thought then and now? wife should have still left his ass! he did HAVE sex with her just not intercourse! also, why would his character stay at the firm, when his own boss and some fellow co-workers were literally evil and plotting against him until the very end! what? "oh well, everyone made up after demi's character left?" fuck that!

Michael Crichton deserved his early death for this.

Wasn't there some weird depiction of the internet in this movie? I remember some kind of bad cgi virtual reality world at some point.

Oh right. Demi Moore used to be a movie star. Forgot about that.

It was so weird Crichton wrote this book. It was unlike his usual tech thrillers, and I remember reading that the movie critics considered the film less misogynistic than the novel (which is hard to believe).

Anyone remember when Beyonce basically remade this film, with touches of Fatal Attraction thrown, in that god awful Obsessed movie.

Whoever Demi's agent or manager or handlers were... every movie she did was worse than the last. Til her career hit the skids.

Pretty shocking that this film was directed by Barry Levinson, who was a respected director. 1980s films have a reputation for being campy but some of the 1990s material is really over the top.

Michael Crichton should’ve stuck to writing about dinosaurs.

I just remember this movie’s depiction of sex between a man and a woman being about as complicated as building a skyscraper.

Didn’t Annette Bening drop out of this? Demi was not the 1st choice.

She definitely should have divorced him. It was obvious he was an asshole when he reacts weirdly to some comment his kid makes about a girl at school having two mums.

The podcast HOW DID THIS GET MADE did a really funny episode on this. And the animated Netflix show BIG MOUTH did a Disclosure the Musical episode that is great.

The thing I remember is how the email looked. I think it was a slightly futuristic look of how they thought it would soon be looking. I think I barely used the school account I had at the time, so it still had a bit of a novelty to it.
