I think we can agree that there are only two sexes and biology is immutable (because that's the true) and still respect trans people. Just because there are radical trans activists it doesn't mean every trans people is like that. Most of them just want to live their lives.

I don't even think Rowling is transphobic, but I appreciate how Radcliffe defends the community. He's such a nice guy.

Never mind her for now. Show us your nudes, Daniel.

by Anonymousreply 1November 4, 2022 3:23 PM

Nope he's as stupid as only an actor can be. Which is plenty stupid.

by Anonymousreply 3November 4, 2022 3:28 PM

Yeah, I like him. I didn't use to but he's really grown on me.

by Anonymousreply 4November 4, 2022 3:28 PM

Here's the thing about the younger generation. They have no knowledge of history. So it's like they are in their own little bubble. There's nothing one can do about it. They don't read.

by Anonymousreply 5November 4, 2022 3:29 PM

He’s an ungrateful moron. JKR has said nothing transphobic. She stands up for women and same-sex attraction. It’ll be a cold day in hell before I’ll take instruction from Radcliffe, Watson and Grint. They should be thanking her for their careers instead of coming across as hugely self-entitled brats.

by Anonymousreply 6November 4, 2022 3:31 PM

What did Rowling say that was smearing, insulting or abhorrent to the trans community? Why would someone state "people who menstruate" vs using the noun "women"? It was Rowling's addressing this statement that got the whole ugly ball of hatred and TERF accusation rolling. Her tone and actual words were NOT inflammatory or disrespectful to our trans brothers and sisters. Two years later I still do not understand how and why this statement or her subsequent, lengthy, nuanced response has garnered such acrimony. Secondarily I do not understand how Radcliffe, Grint and Watson were compelled to comment against a woman whose creativity and hard work made them rich and famous. What evs...

Bad troll! No turnip today!

by Anonymousreply 8November 4, 2022 3:33 PM

R6 and R7. Turning that around, I don't really see how Radcliffe or the others actually said anything negative about JR. If she perceived their comment as an 'attack' than I'm not sure what to say to that.

by Anonymousreply 9November 4, 2022 3:36 PM

R9 is spectacularly retarded.

by Anonymousreply 10November 4, 2022 3:38 PM

[quote]They should be thanking her for their careers

Especially Radcliffe.

Director Chris Columbus had personally cast American Liam Aiken as 'Harry Potter,' because they had previously worked on the smash hit STEPMOM, and Columbus thought he'd be great in the role, but then JK Rowling had a massive hissy fit (no exaggeration) and demanded that only British actors be considered.

by Anonymousreply 11November 4, 2022 3:39 PM

I think less of Radcliffe now and would be less inclined to see one of his movies. Rowling received death threats and he's defending those people.

by Anonymousreply 12November 4, 2022 3:39 PM

R10. Feel free to share what you perceive as the 'attack' on JR.

R12. He is? Where?

by Anonymousreply 13November 4, 2022 3:40 PM

r11 Interesting how Harry Potter written by a British author demanded that actors are all Brits yet Game of Thrones authored by an American produced by American company HBO yet the cast almost entirely British.

by Anonymousreply 14November 4, 2022 3:52 PM

No one would have heard of Radcliffe without JK. He's a fucking awful actor. He should kiss her ass.

by Anonymousreply 15November 4, 2022 3:56 PM

R2 those type of conspiracy videos never fail to make me laugh and roll my eyes out of my head. And I'm a Team Rowling adjacent-radfem myself.

Imagine being that fucking delusional. Imagine thinking that a femmey, curvaceous, short and slight pretty boy/man is actually a woman in disguise just because from looking at a selective pile of photos & videos you "feel" that they have "feminine energy".

by Anonymousreply 16November 4, 2022 3:58 PM

R14 I think it's insecurity on the Brits' part.

by Anonymousreply 17November 4, 2022 4:20 PM

R17 the Illegitimate Stage (and Screen) is all we left! Don't take that from us!

by Anonymousreply 18November 4, 2022 4:22 PM

He's an ideologically-captured twat.

by Anonymousreply 19November 4, 2022 4:25 PM

You started a new thread because the other one wasn't going your way, I see.

Radcliffe is entitled to his own opinions, he isn't beholden to support Rowling just because he was in the HP movies as a kid. He shouldn't "kiss her ass" for life, he isn't "ungrateful," he's an adult who is allowed to have an opinion, and you're just acting like children because you disagree.

He also didn't support anyone sending death threats, so stop with the lies, too. If you can.

by Anonymousreply 20November 4, 2022 4:28 PM

Danny Boy as the face of a trol and the talent of a melodramatic ham.

To defend myself for speaking out against him, I will say that my opinions are as valid as his.

by Anonymousreply 22November 4, 2022 4:38 PM

Forget gratitude. Forget it. He doesn't owe her graatitude. He owes the ones who picked him to play a Rowling-created character.

Danny should be LOYAL to the woman who ENABLED his acting career. If he was so talented, why don't I se him in any good movies? I've seen him in a bad tv show recently, but.... If she didn't exist, there'd be no Harry Potter and Danny Boy would never have had even his short career, which is now over.

Loyalty, damn it. Is that too much to ask for a career opportunity? She made the opportunity happen and he benefited from it. DEBT. He owes her his lifelong loyalty. Maybe he can't defend her. Ever. BUT he sure a shit doesn't have to condemn her opinions publicly. No fucking way.

Disloyal toad-boy. That's you, Dan Dan.

by Anonymousreply 23November 4, 2022 4:47 PM

Daniel Radcliffe doesn't owe that stupid TERF jackshit.

by Anonymousreply 24November 4, 2022 4:59 PM

Good. She's a bored idiot who can't stand that Harry Potter is long in the rear view mirror, hence is doing all this crap to stay in the public eye.

by Anonymousreply 25November 4, 2022 5:01 PM

There’s currently a trend where artists (including those who make ‘high’ art) are being pressured to make politically desirable statements, as though they’re glorified PR content makers. This robs them of their independence. Artists are not mouthpieces for polite society.

by Anonymousreply 26November 4, 2022 5:14 PM

[quote]Radcliffe is entitled to his own opinions, he isn't beholden to support Rowling just because he was in the HP movies as a kid. H

He is entitled to his opinion, and we are entitled to criticize it as much as we want.

He isn't entitled though of misrepresenting what JKR's argument or stance is.

by Anonymousreply 27November 4, 2022 5:27 PM

Fuck the T! And fuck off op

by Anonymousreply 28November 4, 2022 5:31 PM

Above all female spaces must remain female. Men who want to pretend they are female are not female and never will be.

by Anonymousreply 29November 4, 2022 5:31 PM

[quote] He is entitled to his opinion, and we are entitled to criticize it as much as we want.

I never said you weren't. Stop lying, if you can.

[quote]He isn't entitled though of misrepresenting what JKR's argument or stance is.

He didn't even specifically mention JKR at all in this statement, and in the 2020 statement, he did not misrepresent her stance. She said trans women aren't women. He disagreed.

Have I missed it or have you guys very studiously avoided posting a link to an actual news article about this? Here's one, it's got links to everything.

There as a thread about this I posted in 8 hours ago which has since been deleted.

Daniel Radcliffe cares about his trans and non binary friends feelings.

JK Rowling cares about the rights, freedom and safety of females.

That's the difference.

I think Harry Potter is JK’s own life story — someone who comes from humble beginnings and finds out she has a special gift (in her case, writing and communication), but discovers that instead of using it to enrich herself, it’s her duty to use it to fight evil and change the world for the better. That’s why she stood up with her beliefs at the risk of losing her career. And her beliefs are not anti-trans; they are pro-feminism.

by Anonymousreply 32November 4, 2022 6:36 PM

R32 I can't work out if this is a piss take or not.

by Anonymousreply 33November 4, 2022 7:06 PM

he's an adult who is allowed to have an opinion, and you're just acting like children because you disagree.

R30 you are a lying hypocritical asshole. Do you understand what you are saying? No fucking way. Are you an actor? Because you've got the intellectual expanse of a flea.

And he was speaking out specifically against Rowlings comments. Duh.

by Anonymousreply 34November 4, 2022 7:20 PM

R33 It’s fairly common for writers of pop fiction to base the protagonist on themselves. It’s also telling that JK was pressured by the publishing industry to (1) stick to male protagonists, (2) abbreviate her name to sound more masculine, and (3) use a male pseudonym (Robert Galbraith) for her adult crime fiction — all in effort to increase her book sales. In essence, she has transed herself 3 times in order to be a successful writer. It’s no wonder she’s taken such a keen interest in the subject of girls being pressured to become boys, and of men invading women’s spaces..

by Anonymousreply 35November 4, 2022 7:25 PM

R35 Nah, she used the Robert Galbraith name because she wanted to release new books without any expectation or pressure. Using a male name was likely because she thought that would mean people would be less likely to guess it was her.

by Anonymousreply 36November 4, 2022 7:34 PM

R36 How on earth would a female pseudonym “out” her as the writer, especially when there are numerous other female authors, and crime fiction is a completely different genre from Harry Potter?

by Anonymousreply 37November 4, 2022 7:44 PM

R37 I didn't say it would out her. I just think using a male name would mean it'd be less likely people would guess it was pseudonym for her.

by Anonymousreply 38November 4, 2022 8:00 PM

OP, tell Danny Boy to spend frugally. His money now is going to have to last him for the rest of his life.

by Anonymousreply 39November 4, 2022 8:03 PM

But R39 he has the critically reviewed Weird Al movie out this weekend. Exclusively on Roku.

by Anonymousreply 40November 4, 2022 8:13 PM

R35 You have an active imagination and a low IQ

by Anonymousreply 41November 4, 2022 8:14 PM

Radcliffe sure makes odd choices in movie roles. Not to put down Weird Al, but he’s a wholesome guy who’s led a life with few conflicts, but conflict is the key ingredient in both comedy and drama. Apparently the screenwriter had to make one up with for the biopic: a fictional love affair with… Madonna? Riiiight. Despite the critical reception, the film will bomb, for sure.

by Anonymousreply 42November 4, 2022 8:15 PM

R41 denying certifiable realities again.

by Anonymousreply 43November 4, 2022 8:16 PM

For the moron at R41:

[quote]“I’ve actually never said part of this before, it is true that my publisher felt that this was a book that boys would also like and they were definitely keen to ‘unisex’ me a bit.”

Also, she was afraid of her abusive ex-husband stalking her, and the “unisex” name helped disguise her identity.

by Anonymousreply 45November 4, 2022 8:35 PM

[quote] She said trans women aren't women. He disagreed.

This just shows YOU haven't read what JK said or wrote.

She didn't say that. She said something to the effect that "biological women and transwomen have different lived experiences."

Are you going to deny that that is true?

moreover, have you ever actually read what she wrote?

by Anonymousreply 46November 4, 2022 8:55 PM

R30 is a blithering idiot.

by Anonymousreply 47November 4, 2022 9:00 PM

[quote]She said trans women aren't women. He disagreed.

Actually R30 she said:

"...because of course trans rights are human rights and of course trans lives matter"

Read what she actually wrote before you spout your bullshit.

R42 its a spoof biopic. You know, like appropriate for Weird Al.

Maggie Smith admires Daniel's talent. She worked with him on a Dickens mini-series, and then recommended him for Harry Potter. Alan Rickman praised his talent, although there's a quote from his book that might indicate otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 53November 6, 2022 3:32 AM

That sounds corny as hell, something only diehard Weird Al fans could tolerate. “Look at how wacky and eccentric he is!”
