My boyfriend will go on Grindr, Scruff, etc., with fake profiles to chat with other guys and exchange pics (he sends fakes). He doesn't think I know. Part of me thinks it's harmless because it's not as if he could ever meet these guys, although I know a lot of guys don't care if you have a fake profile when they want to suck you off, and he's decent looking as is. Part of me, though, hates it. It makes me a bit jealous, and I always wonder about the chance it could turn into a hookup. I've told him numerous times I have no tolerance for cheating or cheaters, and he's said the same. I've been cheated on before, and technically this isn't cheating, but it sort of leaves me with the same feeling. No, I'm not sex-negative, and I'm not seeking some 'heteronormal' relationship, so don't even go there. It's about trust and wondering why he feels the need to do this.

One doesn't buy milk if the cow is still giving

by Anonymousreply 2August 17, 2015 3:01 PM

I feel bad for these guys who do that.

by Anonymousreply 3August 17, 2015 3:02 PM

Remember the episode where Hyacinth was just "looking" at new cars and wound up stealing a Rolls?

by Anonymousreply 4August 17, 2015 3:02 PM

I am a typical elder gay, old, fat, and wrinkled and resentful that when I was young everyone had AIDS. So now I set up dozens of fake profiles and set up tons of dates with suckers. Teach them how it feels.

by Anonymousreply 5August 17, 2015 3:24 PM

What did they do to you, R5? You seem angry at them. Why?

by Anonymousreply 6August 17, 2015 3:28 PM

At least it's not a frau doing it, for a change.

by Anonymousreply 7August 17, 2015 3:28 PM

I get your feelings of concern and jealousy. I don't understand why guys do this either, but boys will be boys. I'm a single guy and I often wonder why I see my partnered friends on these social apps. It's really none of my business, but if I were in a committed relationship I wouldn't want to be on these sites and I wouldn't want my partner to be either. Perhaps I'm old fashioned or traditional, but if you get married in front of your friends and family then go onto these sites do you really want to be married?

OP - who do you so much about his smart phone cruising, with him not knowing. I will tell you how. YOU ARE SNOOPING.

You two seem like a perfect match. You have nothing to worry OR complain about, honey.

by Anonymousreply 9August 17, 2015 3:56 PM

OP is an aspie with no sense of humor or adventure. Your bf needs to ditch you. He can do better.

by Anonymousreply 11August 17, 2015 3:58 PM

Manti Teo, where are you?

by Anonymousreply 12August 17, 2015 8:12 PM

OP, dump him. If he can't be faithful to you, then you deserve better.

by Anonymousreply 13August 17, 2015 9:23 PM

OP hasn't even DISCUSSED this with bf.

OP is a snoop and his bf is a sneak. Match made in heaven.

by Anonymousreply 14August 17, 2015 9:47 PM

He snooped because he suspected something, and he was right. I couldn't care less if my partner looks at my phone because I have nothing to hide.

OP, he's cheating. Dump him.

by Anonymousreply 15August 17, 2015 10:10 PM

It's just time to break up and get this over with OP. You are BOTH being dishonest here. You know and not telling him you know but yet rambling on to random folks about it how you have a problem with his actions. He well obviously is doing is dishonest to both you and the rest of the world. Just admit it this is no good relationship by such behabior on both sides and move on. After do some of your on work on your passive aggressive behavior that will undermine any relationship you attempt.

by Anonymousreply 16August 17, 2015 10:28 PM

OP... you're not more concerned that he's a manipulative liar to others... how do you know he's not being a manipulative liar to you? I mean, you already know he is, by hiding this activity from you, right?

by Anonymousreply 17August 17, 2015 10:31 PM

This is a form of cyber-cheating that is akin to this: when one thinks about someone other than the person they are having sex with (during the sex) in order to get off.

by Anonymousreply 18August 17, 2015 10:39 PM

How do you know it's really him? Anyone can put a pic of someone online.

by Anonymousreply 19August 17, 2015 10:54 PM

One would assume he's been snooping on his phone R19.

by Anonymousreply 20August 17, 2015 10:59 PM

That is terrible to get the hopes up of single men.

by Anonymousreply 21April 17, 2020 2:34 AM

This kind of behavior is the gateway to other more serious stuff and I would proceed with caution.

by Anonymousreply 22April 17, 2020 2:41 AM

You should discuss it with him.. Have honest conversation about what is going on and what he gets out of it. What’s the dynamic with these guys as there is something he is looking for that he’s not getting in the relationship. It could be novelty or a kink or preference. Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 23April 17, 2020 2:50 AM

OP, he's not a boyfriend, he's a troll

by Anonymousreply 24April 17, 2020 2:59 AM

I recommend you smother him in his sleep.

by Anonymousreply 25April 17, 2020 3:34 AM

Doesn't think you know? Honey, he setup the fake profiles specifically for you to know while keeping his other profile that he actually uses to hookup a secret from you.

He not only knows, but encourages you the belief that he's ignorant of your knowledge.
